Salinas cat travels over 1,000 miles back home after going missing in Yellowstone
How did the cat get lost?
A Salinas cat named Binx is back home after going missing in Yellowstone National Park. Binx's owner, Kaitlynn Sammons, said she and her husband were visiting Yellowstone in August when Binx wandered off from their campsite.
Sammons and her husband searched for Binx for hours, but they couldn't find him. They eventually had to leave the park without their cat.
Sammons said she was devastated. She had only had Binx for a few months, but she had already fallen in love with him.
The long journey home
Binx was missing for over a month. During that time, he traveled over 1,000 miles back to Salinas.
It's not clear how Binx made it back home. Sammons said she thinks he may have hitched a ride on a truck or train.
Whatever the case, Sammons is just happy to have Binx back home safe and sound.
Reunited at last
Sammons and her husband were reunited with Binx on September 24th. He was found by a woman in Salinas who saw him wandering around her neighborhood.
The woman called Sammons, who was overjoyed to learn that her cat had been found.
Sammons said she is so grateful to the woman who found Binx. She said she would never have been able to find him on her own.
A happy ending
Binx is now back home with Sammons and her husband. He is happy and healthy, and he is enjoying being reunited with his family.
Sammons said she is so relieved to have Binx back. She said she never thought she would see him again.
